3rd Workshop on Enterprise Systems in Higher Education at INFORMATIK 2011 - Informatik schafft Communities

Abstract: After the 1st ESHE-Workshop held in Poznan, Poland in conjunction with the 12th International Conference on Business Information Systems (BIS) in April 2009 and the 2nd ESHE-Workshop proceeded in Valencia, Spain in conjunction with the 2nd International Conference on Computer Supported Education (CSEDU) in April 2010, the 3rd Workshop on ESHE took place in conjunction with the INFORMATIK 2011 in Berlin, Germany in October 2011. All the ESHE-Workshops are dealing with Enterprise Systems in form of Business Information Systems which are, as part of any business environment, becoming an integrated part of educational environments. Because of their potential of illustration, visualization and simulation of business and decision-making processes to students, the systems have potential for future pedagogic innovation within Higher Education institutes. The ESHE11-Workshop aims in his third continuation at innovative concepts in the field of the creation of new and adequate learning environments and also at possible technical solutions, which offer technology-enhanced learning environments for teachers and learners. The main goal of the workshop is to bring researchers and practitioners together to explore the issues and challenges related to Enterprise Systems in Higher Education and to show the actual activities in this area. Therefore, four submissions (in English and German) were accepted for publication and presented at the INFORMATIK 2011-conference. We like to thank all contributing authors for their submissions and also take the chance to thank the members of our program committee for the successful cooperation within the last three years.
